You can set a minimum subscription tier per flick, so you can keep some work open and some for subscribers. It is a decision per video, not per account.
Do I need a big following?
No. Flicks reaches the hubs and people you are genuinely connected to, so a small, real audience works here in a way it does not on a recommendation feed.
