If nothing has begun, cancelling is free and automatic and you get everything back. Arc absorbs its own fee.

Once work has genuinely started, a cancellation is reviewed by the Arc Business Team, who can set a fair split rather than an all-or-nothing refund.

Trades that work in people's homes or around children cannot self-declare a badge — the badge follows a real check.

A fixed-price job is paid in full when you accept the quote. Arc holds it, takes its fee at that moment, and releases the rest to the provider once the work is done. Nobody is chasing an invoice and nobody is working on a promise.

Questions, answered
What does it cost to post a job?
Nothing. Posting a job and receiving quotes is free. Arc's fee comes out of the agreed price when you accept a quote, and the provider sees it before they quote.
What if the job goes wrong?
The money is still with Arc, not the provider. Either side can raise a dispute, and the Arc Business Team reviews it — including setting a split where part of the work was genuinely done.
Can I just pay them directly?
Taking the job off Arc means neither of you has the protection that brought you here — no held money, no dispute route, no reviews that count. Arc's policy on this is stated when you post and when you quote, not buried in terms.
I'm a tradesperson — how do I get work?
Set up as a provider, choose the categories you actually work in, and you'll be notified when someone nearby posts a job you could do. Some trades require a real check before your listing goes live.
